Introductory Podcast: Saving Shmulik – a Weight Loss Marathon

As you heard in this episode, I lost ~140 pounds in 2010 and reversed all of my medical problems after I followed the advice of a Naturopathic doctor and adopted a shelter dog and plant based diet. I’ve maintained my results for 6 years, and I’m now helping a kind and deserving man in Israel, Shmulik Schwartz, achieve the same results from a similar starting point. At the beginning of this podcast, Shmulik is 51 years old and weighs 332 pounds.

A new episode of this podcast will be released every Monday morning between May 2016 and March 2017.  Each podcast will last a half hour and will begin with a weigh in. Shmulik will report his weight and we’ll talk about his results, what worked, and what can be improved. We’ll also talk about cooking, recipes, the culture and people of Israel, Shmulik’s occupation as a dog therapist, his walking adventures, the thrills of weight loss and any failures he experiences, and importantly, our upcoming marathon.

Did I say marathon? Yes. After losing my weight I became passionate about running and a RRCA certified running coach.  Shmulik and I have signed up to run the Jerusalem Marathon on March 17, 2017. But how is it possible for Shmulik to lose ~140 pounds between May 2017 and March 2017 and then run a marathon?
