It’s absolutely incredible in the fact you turned your life around and are now healthy. I am so sorry about Peety. It really made me think about my dog. He is my first dog and is only 4 but your story really made me come to a realization that I’m going to have to deal with it when his time comes. It really kills me to think about it and I get really depressed sometimes. I have found that it really helps to enjoy the time that I’m having now and apricate that he is here. I have no idea what kind of sadness you felt laying with Peety but I hope I can do it with my dog one day. Not to be sad, but to remember what there was. One final goodbye to my dog would mean so much to me. Again, your story is so inspiring, and I hope you keep striving. Thank you.

I rarely ever cry anymore, all drained of tears from being an animal advocate for so long, but your and Peety’s story made me tear up. How amazing. I hope to get my brother to be inspired by you and get rid of his diabetes too…it’s a terrible disease. I’m vegan for the animals but realize it can also prevent and get rid of diseases. I’m so glad you rescued Jake after your heartbreak in losing Peety. What a wonderful story, thank you for sharing it with us all.

Eric – I’ve watched your video many times, it’s probably one of the most inspiring I’ve ever seen. I am a dog lover (many rescues) and also very overweight. And, we are the same age. Interested now in researching your method after reading your response to the NYT article. I’ve been working with a nutrition therapist who subscribes to practice of intuitive eating which rejects the diet mentality outright. But you have to put weight loss on the back burner and it’s more pressing for me given my weight and health.

In reply to Dawn Hubble. Thank you for posting. The site you linked belongs to a group that advocates for people with psychological service dogs. Their efforts involve lobbying for changes to the Air Carrier Access Act, including greater restrictions for service animals and the elimination of protections for emotional support animals. I agree with the group's goal of eliminating fraud and ensuring that animals at airports are trained to be well behaved, but disagree with their stated goals of eliminating emotional support animals from commercial air travel under the ACAA. There is no pending federal legislation on this matter, so this is a non-issue for now. Thanks!
